While the delay news will no doubt disappoint fans, it hasn’t stopped Firaxis from releasing new details on the upcoming game, including the massive roster of Marvel characters. Over the past month, short showcase videos have periodically released for many members of the Midnight Suns including Captain America, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange. These short videos give fans a closer look at the character in their Midnight Suns outfit as well as gameplay surrounding their abilities and moves.

The latest showcase video for Midnight Suns features the popular X-Men character, Wolverine. As the recent gameplay trailers and even Game Rant’s own hands-on confirmed, each character fits a specific role, to which Wolverine appears to be an offense heavy damage dealer. Using his claws to slash, Wolverine appears to have a lot of moves that deal high damage to an individual target including a jumping slash attack, and an ultimate that appears to power him up thanks to flames that erupt over his claws and body.
Although the gameplay is short, Wolverine is typically seen facing off against his rival, Victor Creed aka Sabertooth. However, as previous reveals have shown, Sabertooth has been corrupted by the game’s big bad, Lilith, so he’s also sporting horns and a greenish glow. Wolverine’s Midnight Suns outfit doesn’t stray too far from his classic look including the wide black fins off his mask, though much of the color pallette has been replaced with black and gold as well as some runes to match the other heroes as well. His claws have also been upgraded a bit as they now glow and feature something resembling a small hook at the tip.
Although Firaxis has detailed plenty of characters present in the game already, both heroes and villains, it is apparently saving one for the very end. While players start with a default roster, more heroes can be unlocked through the game’s campaign. However, according to creative director Jake Solomon, there’s a final and super-secret character Midnight Suns players can only unlock after they’ve beaten the game. It’s also highly unlikely that Solomon or anyone from Firaxis will be showing this hero off, leaving one final mystery for players to unlock once the game launches sometime in 2023.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
