Earlier this month, the new Star Wars Disney+ series, Andor, premiered on the streaming platform. The series follows Rogue One: A Star Wars Story supporting character Cassian Andor and details how he became the man fans met in the 2016 film. Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy was told to avoid Easter eggs and references to other installments, but it appears that someone couldn’t help but include one from a game that takes place around the same time.

As mentioned above, the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed outfit only appears for a brief moment but is unmistakable to many of the game’s fans. At the end of the game, the player is presented with one of two choices: they can either kill Darth Vader for revenge or attack Emperor Palpatine and rescue Starkiller’s new mentor. If the player chooses the former they get to experience Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’s Dark Side ending, which results in the protagonist being encased in his own set of armor similar to that of Darth Vader’s. This set of armor is what appears in the latest episode of Andor, though Starkiller does not appear to be wearing it.
At the time of its release, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was met with mixed reviews from critics but went on to become a huge seller for LucasArts. A sequel, titled Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, was also met with mixed reviews and ultimately failed to generate the same goodwill as its predecessor. The first game would eventually be released on the Nintendo Switch, generating new interest in the franchise. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3 was in development but was reportedly canceled in 2010.
While Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is not canon in the universe, it has become a fan-favorite installment in the franchise. Some have made arguments that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3 should be made and wrap up Starkiller’s story. With the current number of developers taking on projects related to Star Wars, it’s hard to say if The Force Unleashed series will ever get a new shot. What is clear, however, is that someone on the set of Andor was a fan of the games and made sure the Sith Stalker Armor made it into the series for fans to catch.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is available for Nintendo Switch, PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
