Of course, fans will want to take this news with a grain of salt, as neither Naughty Dog nor Sony have publicly confirmed The Last of Us 2’s release date. Nevertheless, this does come from a credible source. For those doubting the authenticity of the date, it’s worth mentioning that this is the official PlayStation music account–not a knockoff.
Moreover, the account is linked with Spotify, so few should doubt the source. Of course, the 2019 release for The Last of Us 2 could still be questioned–if not delayed–from this point, but the fact is that every video uploaded yesterday all bear this mark. Check it out below:
This revelation comes shortly after Sony confirmed there will be no PlayStation Experience this year. Fans may have been hoping for something related to The Last of Us 2 at the event, but alas, that isn’t the case. Still, with this coming from PlayStation Music, fans may hopefully learn more soon, even if it’s just which quarter it’s launching.
After all, many are ecstatic to step into the shoes of Ellie, as the first game is generally considered to be a masterpiece praised for its narrative, gameplay, visual/sound design, and characterization. It remains to be seen if the sequel can live up to the expectations created by the original, but many are deeply invested in Naughty Dog’s upcoming action-adventure title. Hopefully, the full release date comes soon rather than later.
The Last of Us: Part 2 is currently in development for PlayStation 4 and rumored to launch in 2019.
