Landry was a rookie with the Redskins during Taylor’s last season. This was the first game Landry played against his former team, and he made sure to send a subtle shout out to Taylor by wrapping tape around his facemask, just as Taylor did.
According to the Washington Post, Taylor started doing it after he and Clinton Portis were fined for wearing socks that weren’t permitted. In NFL Network’s " Sean Taylor: A Football Life" the tape phenomenon was described in detail.
It’s an awesome way to pay tribute to his fallen teammate, even if he does end up getting fined for the gesture.
